Katie is a native of Kansas City and began her training at Graves Talent Company. She was a fellowship recipient to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York City, Katie and graduated on scholarship with a BFA in Dance from the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri—Kansas City. While working on her degree, Katie started her professional career with Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Theater where she worked with world-renowned choreographers such as Milton Myers, David Parsons, Donald McKayle, Gary Abbott, and Sean Curran. In addition to Wylliams/Henry, Jenkins has been a member of Dayton Contemporary Dance Company II in Dayton, OH, City Dance Ensemble in Washington DC, TILT Contemporary Dance Company in Maui, HI, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble in Denver, CO, and was a guest artist with Malashock Dance in San Diego, CA. During her time as a professional dancer, Katie performed all over North America as well as many countries in Europe.
Jenkins feels honored to have been a guest instructor for a number of university dance programs and events including the American College Dance Festival in Salt Lake City, Williams College in Williamstown, MA, University of Nevada—Las Vegas, Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA, University of Wyoming, University of Missouri—Kansas City, among others. She has also taught and choreographed for numerous dance studios, dance intensives, summer camps, and retreats throughout the U.S. and Eastern Europe.
After living outside the Kansas City area for well over a decade, Katie recently made the move back from San Diego. She is thrilled to be teaching such a fantastic group of children and working alongside The Pulse’s inspiring, amazingly talented instructors.
